post-transplant UPDATES

02/27 2:00 PM - The results of a blood test on Wednesday revealed the reason for the bumps in the road this week. The medicine Kelli was on to treat the prednisone rash she had developed was not cooperating well with other medicines she is taking. So, things are starting to settle back down now. They will look closer at this matter next week when she goes for her checkup.

02/24 9:00 PM - This will seem contradictory to my post 2 days ago but we believe it's important to share as much of everything as possible - ups and downs. Since my positive post on Sunday (22nd) Kelli has hit some bumps in the road. Nothing major, but certainly the past couple days have been a couple steps back in the activity level. The prednisone is raring it's head with "puffiness" and so it goes, the road gets a little bumpy - but we're holding our heads up and keeping our eyes focused on the finish line.

02/22 9:30 AM - Kelli continues to do well. Progress is visible daily. She has begun to shed weight that was associated with fluid retention. Her battle wounds continue to heal up each day. Her energy level continues to increase. She begins a physical therapy regimen this coming week to start getting muscles back in shape after these many sedentary months. So, I guess I better hit the weight room myself or I'll be in trouble real soon it looks like. :)

02/19 7:00 PM - The results of the biopsy came back yesterday. Everything has held the same as the last biopsy so that is GOOD NEWS!!!

02/17 3:30 PM - I finally get to post something exciting! They removed Kelli's pericardial drain tube today! They told her the leaky valve looks to be improving, it's in satisfactory range and is not presenting itself as an issue. So that was good news and Kelli's spirit is lifted. She was even given permission to stop wearing a mask in public - (using discretion of course). As per the normal 24 hour turnaround, the results of the biopsy won't be in until tomorrow. I'll post those results when we get them.

02/16 7:00 PM - Wow! One week since my last update! That either means that things have been going really well and I have nothing to report or things have been insane and I've been too busy to report. Maybe a little of both.
Kelli is doing well for having hit practically every bump that she was told could possible show up along this first leg of the journey; the leaky valve, the fluid build up with the resulting chest tube drain and a prednisone rash, yet she still maintains a positive outlook.
She returns tomorrow for another biopsy. After this one, the biopsy become a monthly procedure rather than the bi-weekly and previous weekly events. We pray all goes well with the check-up tomorrow and I will post the update as it comes.
